National Conservation centre

The National Conservation Centre cares for the diverse collection of all eight of the National Museums of Liverpool as well as providing specialist services to Museums worldwide. HKD was appointed to refurbish their small outdated displays.

HKD led design workshops with NML staff. These workshops extended the remit of the exhibition to place the scientific displays into a wider SciArt context. We introduced a new shop window into the museum raising awareness of the work being done at the Conservation Centre, introduced a new entrance and shop.

Two suites of interactive exhibits were developed. One allowed objects in the museums to “Tell their Story” the second gave visitors to the Museum access to scientific research tools. The Laboratory on the gallery floor bought visitors face to face with the scientists working at the Conservation Centre.
